Hertford Castle brings everything you need in one location, with exclusive hire and a memorable backdrop in which to host every moment of your Wedding from your ceremony through to your reception. We can welcome up to 60 guests for a ceremony and seated reception and 100 guests for a more informal reception gathering.
Whether you are celebrating a special birthday, a christening, or the life of a loved one who has passed, Hertford Castle offers the perfect setting to create lasting memories. The Downshire Suite can be hired exclusively and you have the choice and freedom to select your own caterers and suppliers.
Hertford Castle and the surrounding greenspaces have been a prominent feature of the county town for hundreds of years, featuring stunning grounds, 12th Century curtain wall, Anglo-Saxon motte, and much more.
The heritage and wildlife engrained into the site are what makes Hertford Castle a truly special place.
Thanks to the National Lottery Heritage Fund, changes are happening to the greenspaces on site, breathing new life into the grounds and shaping how we interact with the historic and natural heritage here.
Hertford Castle Greenspace Renewal (HCGR) aims to promote the sites rich history, improve access across the site, and increase biodiversity through a range of interventions that are currently being developed.
The National Lottery Heritage Fund has awarded the project nearly £350,000 to develop and cost the plans over the next 12 months. Dedicated staff will work with consultants, technical experts and the community to ensure the project meets the needs of the local people, community groups and businesses. Keep your eyes peeled for some pilot activities too!
