The Downshire Suite comprises of three rooms, the elegant interconnecting Salisbury Room and the Mayors Parlour offer an extremely flexible space and the Victorian glass house Conservatory is full of natural light and leads out into the ancient walled Castle gardens.

The selection of rooms within the Downshire Suite on the ground floor are easily accessible and well suited to both intimate and larger events. We offer flexible options to be able to hire just a single room or exclusive hire of the whole suite.

The Salisbury Room

Whether you are celebrating with a lunch, afternoon tea, dinner or private party The Salisbury Room can create the perfect space to impress your family and friends.

With the flexibility to formally seat up to 50 guests or informally 60 guests standing, it is a perfect setting for entertaining.

The Mayor's Parlour

The Mayor's Parlour is the perfect space for intimate gatherings.

The large oval dining table comfortably sits 10 guests or alternatively the room can be rearranged to suit your own occasion, maybe a cocktail party for 40 guests or a small dinner party for 24 guests.

The Conservatory

Optimising the light our beautiful Victorian Conservatory brings the outside in allowing you to enjoy the view of the Castle Gardens.

A perfect space to relax with your guests and as it is heated the space can be enjoyed all year round.

The Robing Room

The Robing Room is reached by a striking circular staircase and located on the first floor.

The room full of character and charm is dominated by the natural beauty of the 15th Century stone, brick and timber built wall, echoing the historic architecture.

Due to the nature of the building there is no lift access to the first floor.
